Happy (long) Weekend!

Hi Friends! Happy Friday! How are you? How was your week? I don’t know about you, but I am ready for a long weekend! Yesterday, I was in Chicago for work meeting with a really big food company that makes a lot of cheese (shhhh…. it starts with a K and ends with a T)! While traveling, I had some time to read up on a few things…

We are what we eat… so what are we? This site has the answers!

The Ohio Texting Law went into effect today. Are you hands free?

Fall TV is almost here…

Let’s celebrate workers! Happy Labor Day!

Have a great weekend and a pretty morning! xxoo

Fall Attire

As most of you know, I am a self-described “J.Crew Junkie”. I even wore it at my wedding! The classic, preppy styles and bold mix of colors never go out of style. I am already craving some new J.Crew gear for the fall and it’s not even September yet. So, I have decided to fill the time by making wish list’s of outfits that I would love to have as the leaves begin to change. Here is my perfect combo for a Saturday afternoon…

Bedtime Book

Gabby and I have a favorite bedtime book and honestly, I am not sure who loves it more! Every night I look forward to cuddling and rocking with her and reading this book. It warms my heart and puts my mind at ease. Love! xxoo

I’ll See You In The Morning
by Mike Jolley and Mique Moriuchi
I’ll see you in the morning.
For now it’s time to sleep.
I’ll stay and watch a while…
…till you are counting sheep.
Don’t be afraid of darkness.
Don’t be afraid, my sweet.
The night is just a blanket
that helps the earth to sleep.
Creatures great and creatures small
will all be sleeping soon.
Under the same blanket…
…under the same moon.
So close your eyes and go to sleep
by the light of the moon above.
I’ll see you in the morning
in the light of the sun, my love.
Dream your dreams of moonbeams.
Let the night become your friend.
The twinkling stars will keep you safe
till morning comes again.
I’ll be here if you need me.
I’m only steps away.
So close your eyes and go to sleep
and dream of a brand-new day.
Good night…
Sleep tight…
…I’ll see you in the morning!

Som Sabadell Flashmob

You have to watch this video… it gave me chills and nearly brought me to tears! You will need be able to have the sound on (and turned up!). Enjoy!

On the 130th anniversary of the founding of Banco Sabadell we wanted to pay homage to our city by means of the campaign “Som Sabadell” (We are Sabadell). This is the flashmob that we arranged as a final culmination with the participation of 100 people from the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Lieder, Amics de l’Òpera and Coral Belles Arts choirs.

Happy Monday!

Whoa. What a weekend! How are you? How was your weekend? Ours was packed with so much fun, including family time at the pool on Friday, a trip to Lexington for a bachelorette party on Saturday and a friend’s 2nd birthday party (Elmo theme!) on Sunday. I’m exhausted, and it’s only Monday. This photo is from the Family Camping Night that we went to at our pool. It was so much fun! They serve dinner at the pool, then everyone sets up their tents on the golf course. We did not camp out, but certainly plan to in the years to come.

The image above summarizes our summer… she spent hours in the baby pool (usually wearing a swimsuit, but it was just too hot this weekend!) gazing at all the big kids in the big pool, while eating ice. Have a great day and a pretty morning! xxoo

Happy Weekend!

TGIF! How are you? How was your week? Are you ready for the weekend? Today feels like a Friday even more than usually, because I am home from work! Yippee. I am spending the whole day with my favorite little person in the whole wide world! This morning we are meeting friends at a new play cafe  and tonight we are going to “Family Camping Night” at our pool. It is the perfect ending to summer! We will be heading home after smore’s and campfire songs, but luckily little Gabby is too young to know any different. I applaud all the parents that “rough it” for their kiddos. While I am having fun being a mom today, here are some fun things from around the web…

Goodnight Moon for adults!

There is something about fall that makes me want to carry a new clutch.

I just ordered these pillows from Etsy. I love ikat!

My first Birchbox arrived! Yeah!

I want to try this kid friendly paint (via my good friend, Anna)

An open letter to America’s Teachers

Finally, here is a great quote that we heard at Parent’s Night…

Do not worry that your children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.

~Robert Fulghum

Have a great weekend and a pretty morning! xxoo

Fall TV

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some new tv shows! Luckily, September is just around the corner and it brings a full line-up of fall premieres. After reading Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling, I am dying to see her sitcom The Mindy Project. It is a new comedy that follows a woman (Mindy!) who desperately needs to break bad habits in her life. She tackles exes, awkward dates and snarky co-workers in her role as a thirty something OB/GYN, who also happens to love sparkly minidresses. Set your DVRs – it premieres on Fox on Sept. 25th at 9:30PM EST.

Sincerely

I received an adorable thank you note called a “postagram“ this week  (thanks, Beth!). It was a postcard style card that included a personal message and photo. After a little investigation, I quickly learned that the card was generated via Sincerely - a mobile platform that let’s you send thoughtful gifts from your phone. Postagram is an app that helps you to send your home-spun photography to friends and family. You simply choose pictures from your Instragram, Facebook, or Photo albums and ship them off to whomever you want. How cool is that!

Back to School

It’s that time of year again… back to school is officially happening this week in our neighborhood. It seems to come earlier and earlier each year. I remember always looking forward to the first day of school, but really feeling sad that summer was over. It will be interesting to see what Gabby thinks of school. Alex and I are attending a “Parent’s Night” at Gabby’s school tomorrow. I am nervous but excited for her to start in late October! Also, I just read this fascinating article on the most beautiful and imaginative schools in the world. How cool are these schools!

Outstanding in the Field

Outstanding in the Field is a unique dining experience that aims to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. It is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls! Since 1999 they have set the long table at some of the most gorgeous settings I have ever seen. Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sometimes sourced within inches of your seat at the table!) and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region.

Once again, one of the fall tour dates includes Woodland Farm in Goshen, Kentucky, which is about 90 miles from Cincinnati. The ticket is not cheap, but I have a feeling it is worth every penny! Outstanding in the Field is definitely on my bucket list! Check out more photos here.

Happy Weekend!

Yeah! It’s Friday! I know I am ready for the weekend! How are you? How was your week? What are you up to this weekend? I hope it is something you enjoy with people you love. We are planning to get to the pool a few times and hang out with our friends, including a nice dinner out on Saturday night. To get your weekend started, here are some fun things from around the web…

This is a real place! I saw it with my own two eyes!

A tumbler dedicated to Kate Middleton.

This app looks pretty awesome.

Your favorite movie in a barcode. What?! Finding Nemo… So cool!

I love a really good pen!

Have a great weekend and a pretty morning! xxoo

Thought Catalog

I recently discovered an awesome website called Thought Catalog (thanks, Caroline!). Basically, it is a collection of great ideas and thoughts, hence the name! I love a post from August 9th titled 6 Things You Shouldn’t Give Up On. I strongly encourage you to read the post in it’s entirely (click here to do so), however here are a few highlights…

1. Having a job you enjoy.

If you are happy doing a job that leaves you a lot of time and no stress for the rest of your endeavors, you should feel no shame in doing it.

2. Being loved.

Aside from there being many kinds of love outside of the romantic kind — all of which are wonderful and highly worth our time, if underrated — there is no expiration date on the kind of enjoyment we can find from being kind and loving to others and receiving that kindness in return.

3. Maintaining a nice environment.

Everything from your workspace to your bedroom is vastly improved with just a small amount of touching-up each day.

4. Keeping good friends.

A good friend is a precious thing, and must be taken care of on both sides.

5. Your body.

We can always eat a bit healthier, be a bit more active, take a bit better care of our skin, and love ourselves a little more.

6. Personal change.

There is never a point at which we can no longer change, improve, or shape ourselves into what we desire.

Honest Toddler

My favorite part about being on Twitter is following @HonestToddler. He loves juice, crackers, cake, attention and tv. And he despises bedtime. He often provides other toddler’s with advice via his “Toddler Tip” tweets. I am not sure exactly who is behind this hilarious kid, but they are creating a captive audience. Here are some of my favorite recent tweets from @HonestToddler:

If you’re at the grocery store, holler at me. Look for the smartly dressed GAP kid. I’m next to him wearing pajamas and bootleg Crocs.

Like I’m the first person to ever take off their clothes in a Starbucks.

Daddy’s home. Mama changed into pajamas. She calls them her wine clothes.

Every week she buys zucchini. Every week we throw away rotten zucchini. Crackers don’t go bad.

I just…I just feel like these pajamas aren’t me. I don’t know.

Toddler Tip: Adults CAN type with one hand while holding you. Just depends on how much love is in their heart.

You can see more from Honest Toddler on facebook and via his blog. This post is one of my favorites!
And I just tweeted my 100th tweet! #Boom

Weekend Menus

Hi Friends! Happy Monday! How are you? How was your weekend? We had so much fun entertaining on both Friday and Saturday nights! The food was all so yummy that I thought I would share the full menu’s with you…

Friday

App: Veggies and hummus

App: Cheese and crackers

Side: Corn pudding - This was the easiest and best corn pudding recipe I have ever made. It was delicious!

Side: Panzanella - You must try this recipe! It’s perfect for the end of summer.

Main: Tequila Lime Chicken - We used bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts and the meat was so tender and moist. The key is to marinade them over night!

Dessert: Birthday cake and ice cream (via my Mother-in-law)

Saturday

App: Cheese, crackers, pistachios, fruit paste

Salad: Sliced tomatoes with chunky blue cheese - I am now obsessed with homemade blue cheese dressing!

Side: Simple grilled veggies (zucchini, peppers, red onion and asparagus) – We drizzled the vegetables with olive oil and salt and pepper. So simple, but so good!

Side: Roasted potatoes with rosemary and salt - I love making these for dinner parties because you pop them in the oven and 45 minutes later they’re done!

Main: Grilled fillets

Dessert: Ice cream and cookies
